Geography Department

Welcome to Geography!

GEOGRAPHY AT OAKRIDGE:

Special thanks to the senior geography students at Oakridge for continuing to push our class discussions and global connections. We’ve discussed so many relevant topics and inquired into a plethora of national and international issues covering environmental management, development, geo-political crisis, and human rights (to name a few), and connected with our young Grade 9 Pre-IB students on topics related to their future curriculum. Recently the CGW 4U Canadian and World Issues class conducted a United Nations General Assembly session on the issues of “International Migration” with the goal of presenting, debating, and amending resolutions. The Environmental and Resource Management students were visited by Dr. Gordon McBean (Western University Professor and longstanding member to the IPCC) assisting our students to identify & clarify research, and predict future trends in climate change. Check out our TWITTER hashtag at #oaksworldissues to see a variety of different course discussions and connections to our curriculum and global competencies- all emphasizing risk taking, critical discussion, and global citizenship!
